Are You Worried About The Credit Crunch?
Are you beating yourself up about the credit crunch?
One of the biggest things we procrastinate about is money or the lack of money. Some of us bury our head in the sand and won't go any further.
The worst thing you can do is not look at your bank statements and the bills that come in. they won't go away and in fact they can get worse. They can just pile up in a cupboard but they won't go away.
Money worries is a big thing, especially for procrastinator. The more bills coming in are ignored, the worse it gets, they won't go away. They can be piled in a cupboard or a drawer but they will still be there.
I was made redundant and contrary to the fact that people get a big redundancy payout, I didn't.So there I was no money coming in and it seemed that a lot of it was going out. I decided that I couldn't face reading the letters that came in but then the phone calls started to come in and although it was easy to ignore the phone it didn't stop it ringing. I was actually forced to sort out my finances. It was a rotten feeling and totally out of my comfort zone. At that time I believed if I didn't deal with it, it would go away - wrong.
So I started opening letters, contacting debtors, talking to my bank and realising that things weren't as bad as I had imagined, they weren't good but my finances hadn't actually fallen into the black hole I had pushed them into. I had blown it up out of all proportion and if I had sorted things out earlier, it wouldn't have been half as bad!
This was a long time ago and I am better having learned not to spend one penny until I had two of them.
So what should we do, well to quote Susan Jeffers, Feel the Fear and Do it Anyway. The fear is before the action. Once we action, the fear goes away. So action things as soon as possible.
Now I can't give financial advise but I can share with you tips that I have been given over the years:- Move your credit card debt to one that doesn't charge interest. There are a lot of sites out there giving the various credit card charges.
- Change your attitude towards money - make a conscious decision to sort out your finances - don't bury your head in the sand
- Write up a budget sheet of your incomings and outgoings and see where the money is going and where you can save
- Start saving a tiny bit of money, as you see that grow you will find it feels really good. I save my 20ps
- If you are really in debt, don't leave anything, contact your debtors and explain the situation before things get out of hand. You can always contact the Citizens Advice Bureau who are used to dealing with such matters. There are other organisations but you don't need to pay for any help in these matters so steer away from those that charge.
Everything will sort itself out if you make sure you take action as soon as possible.
